Schroder-Devrient, Wilhelmine

Wilhelmine Schroder-Devrient(1804-1860), German operatic soprano, in 1821 she sang the role of Pamina of "The Magic Flute" gained much enthusiasm that her future career in opera assured, then she sang in Dresden, London and Paris. She created several roles for Wagner - Andriano in Rienzi, Senta in The Flying Dutchman, and Venus in Tannhauser. As a singer she combined rare quality of tone with dramatic intensity of expression.
