Senyitsa, Pavel Ivanovitch

Pavel Ivanovitch Senyitsa(1879-1960), Ukrainian composer, folklorist and pedagogue, studied at the Moscow Conservatory. From 1921-31 he was active ethnomusicologist, he collected, analyzed and noted Ukrainian folk songs. From 1923-1929 he served as secretary of the Ethnographic section of the Institute of Musicology in Moscow, then was the chairman of the Institute, also he taught at several music academies in Russia. He composed 2 operas, 2 symphonies, and 7 string quartets.
