Silva, Francisco Manuel de

Francisco Manuel de Silva(1795-1865), Brazilian composer and conductor, sang in the choir of the Royal chapel at Rio de Janeiro in 1809, later played cello in the orchestra. In 1833 he founded the Sociedade beneficencia musical. In 1847, founded the conservatory in Rio de Janeiro. He composed the national anthem of Brazil.
