Leopold Simoneau(1916-2006), French-Canadian tenor, one of the outstanding Mozarteans of his time. He studied at Montreal and New York; made his debut in Montreal in 1941. He sang in Paris, London, La Scala, Salzburg, and New York Metropolitan Opera. He retired from opera in 1964, but continued to sing in concert until 1970. He was active in the formation of Opera de Quebec; joined the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory in 1972.
